Eurocement Group has completed a large-scale investment project at Pikalevsky Cement under the Agreement on Social and Economic Cooperation with the Government of the Leningrad Region. The grinding unit was upgraded in depth, which helped to improve the quality of the products, increase their stability and expand the range of products with high quality and additive cements. Investments in the project amounted to 150 million rubles.

Eurocement Group has completed a large-scale investment project at Pikalevsky Cement under the Agreement on Social and Economic Cooperation with the Government of the Leningrad Region. The grinding unit was upgraded in depth, which helped to improve the quality of the products, increase their stability and expand the range of products with high quality and additive cements. Investments in the project amounted to 150 million rubles. “The Holding constantly interacts with key customers and receives feedback to ensure that the quality of Eurocement products meets customer expectations. Our customers need cement with a later setting time, higher strength, and the products of the new grinding department were the answer to this request,” said Senior Vice-President Alexander Sapronov. “Pikalevsky Cement produces products with high performance characteristics. Laboratory physical and mechanical tests of industrial batches confirm the reduction of water separation by 27% and the increase in the rate of strength gain. The strength values have increased by more than 20%: today the strength is 25 MPa for 3 days and more than 60 MPa for 28 days. The increase in setting time — up to 175 minutes — has improved the retention and workability properties of the cement dough. Thanks to the optimization of the granulometric composition after grinding of clinker, the durability of cement stone has increased. In the modernized grinding department the equipment of leading western manufacturers is used: KHD, Aumund, Siemens. The company’s supervisors participated in the commissioning works. Employees of the plant have mastered the skills of working with new equipment and apply the best world practices in production. Modernization was carried out without stopping the existing lines to meet the needs of the market in the current construction season. “Excellent quality characteristics of cement of Eurocement Group enterprises in the Leningrad Region meet the requirements of consumers and are ideal for construction projects of any complexity: high-rise and low-rise buildings, residential complexes and industrial construction, creation of transport infrastructure. It can be used in preparation of commodity concretes, in manufacture of ferro-concrete products, dry building mixes, finishing and masonry solutions. The demand for such products makes it possible to expand the sales markets both in the North-Western Federal District and beyond,” said Alexander Sapronov.
