Abstract
The article analyzes the ways of alkali penetration into cement, accumulation of alkalis during cement hydration, and their role in reactions with aggregates’ silica. The mechanism of lithium nitrate’s effect on the slowing and prevention of the negative impact on concrete of the interaction of alkaline phase with reactive aggregates is analyzed herein.
