Abstract
Green buildings are ecological and energy conservative buildings which are built with allowance for most recent ecological systems.
This Discourse is to introduce the background, goal and policy of the development of green buildings and green roofs in China. It introduces the technical characteristics, relative specifications and development situation of five types of green roof systems, which include planted roof, heat reflective roof, single-ply roof, ventilation tile roof and Building Integrated PV roof (BIPV — Building Integrated Photovoltaics — are photovoltaic materials that are used to replace conventional building materials in parts of the building envelope such as the roof, skylights, or facades and roof).
