Abstract

This paper examines the effectiveness of various types of superplasticizers for reducing cement consumption in ready-mix concrete of given compressive strength classes. The absence of a strict correlation between w/c and concrete strength with admixtures was revealed. The observed phenomenon was considered from the standpoint of the chemistry of concrete microstructure formation in the presence of admixtures (changes in both pore liquid and cement hydrates composition).
