Abstract

It is demonstrated that usage of volumetric phase characteristics during research of the cement–water system enables to conduct quantitative evaluation of cement stone structural characteristics and present graphically, as a ternary diagram, changes in the phase composition of this system during hydration and hardening. Based on these characteristics, there are mathematical expressions proposed for calculation of a cement hydration degree with reference to liquid and solid phases, a degree of free porous space filling of the cement–water system, a formula to calculate kinetics of cement hydration and hardening processes as well as a formula to determine a cement stone strength.

Key words:

cement, hydration, hardening, volume ratio, law of constant volumetric phase composition, evaluation parameters, structure formation, kinetics, phase diagram
