Abstract

This paper presents the results of the qualitative research of the joint effect of temperature, humidity and constant load on the concrete strength. Such influences have the most negative effect on the flexural strength of concrete, as the characteristics most sensitive to changes in the pore structure of the material. First, tests were carried out for the separate effects of temperature and humidity. After 28 days of specimen hardening under normal conditions, a change in the temperature regime has practically no effect on the strength of the specimens. However, cyclic exposure to moisture reduces flexural strength to 10 % of the original strength.
The cyclic change in temperature and humidity leads to the leaching out of the cement hydration products and the appearance of non-manifested capillary shrinkage, which leads to a decrease in the flexural strength to 25 … 30 % of the initial strength of the samples under the influence of a constantly applied load. Thus, a hypothesis is proposed, based on the second law of dialectics, about the transition of quantitative changes into qualitative ones, that the joint action of negative factors significantly increases and leads to destruction.
