Abstract

Number of cracks and crack-opening displacement (COD) are essential characteristics of gypsum boards stability in case of fire; the positive dynamics of the aforementioned parameters are main indicators of fire resistance improvement. According to the results of varied previous studies, fine cracks are deemed to have less negative impact on the stability of gypsum boards. Within the framework of those studies the authors appeared to be the first ever to quantitatively describe the extent and number of cracks and compare the effects of various additives on fire resistance properties of gypsum boards.
