I have been a trader on the market of ash and slag waste (ASW) of thermal power plants of Russia for the last four years. Until that time, I had worked on the cement market of Russia for 11 years. I delivered up to 350,000 tons of cement per year from Russian, German, Chinese, Turkish, Polish, and Estonian plants. For the last four years, I have been supplying only electric filter and cyclone shale ash from thermal power plants of the Eesti Energia Narva Elektrijaamad association in Estonia. This experience has enabled our team at ZAO “ProfCementVector” (www.profcement.ru) to achieve certain results, which can be seen both from the location of shale ash supplies (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Voronezh, Krasnodar, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Tomsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Noyabrsk, etc.) and the price level (from 2,775 to 10,000 rubles per ton for the ex-consumer).
It is no accident why I mentioned the prices. I think these figures are the best evidence of what the business can expect in the ASW sector if things are done the right way. It should be kept in mind that in the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East there are business projects where quality fly ash plays an important role. This is why this article has been written, as I want to share a positive experience and vision of what should be done on Russian coal plants in order to offer consumers a product and not a waste and thus solve the problem of constant growth of ash dumps in Russia.
