Abstract
In our day-to-day life, we purchase products from well-known companies which end up disappointing us. For example, tea with pickled fish flavor or mulch musty coffee, medications that do not help, or children’s toys emitting phenol, and so on.
This list of disappointment is endless, because all our life is flooded with the forged, fake, or counterfeit products. It seems that there is no sphere where such disappointment is absent. Sometimes, drawing such information from the press or television, we are starting to look around in dismay — what if the ceiling is going to fall down, what if the walls are going to crack? Because, unfortunately, counterfeiting has already penetrated building materials’ industries, cement and dry building mixtures production.
Work to combat counterfeits in this sphere of economy, led by the Association of Security Structures “Oskord” for more than ten years can be compared with the movement from the base of a pyramid bottom to its top. The bottom part of the pyramid is represented with a layer of retail and small-scale wholesale trade, the middle is wholesale trade, and the top is the production of counterfeits. From experience we are convinced that under the existing conditions, it is impossible to find manufacturer’s counterfeit products not his way up from retailer to a wholesaler.
We would like to focus on the main point: production of counterfeits. We should mention that first, before starting the monitoring of retail facilities we had to study the appearance and product’s portfolio of the rights holder thoroughly, in order to know the distinctive features of the original products for sure.
Analyzing the accumulated experience, we can conclude that there are two main ways of manufacturing counterfeit products.
The first way is based on wrong packaging method. In this method packaging is similar to the original one but filled with a cheaper mixture, and such “product” is sold under the brand of the original product.
The second way is based on manufacturing of the mixture with similar properties, and then its packaging into fake packs.
