Abstract

Production of precast concrete requires the use of appropriate materials and manufacturing technology to ensure the proposed technical features / properties and performance. The proper selection of cement production technology is considered the most significant technological factor which affects both the technical characteristics of precast concrete and the costs of their manufacture.
Increasingly used in precast industry are Portland cements with mineral additives CEM II and CEM III, especially those produced in the higher strength classes, i. e. 42.5 and 52.5, characterized by a rapid increase of early strength, high standard strength, and high heat of hydration. Improved durability of prefabricated elements (slag cement CEM III) and better workability of the concrete mix are also achieved. What is more, cements containing granulated blast furnace slag are also characterized by a lighter colour, which is important especially when making coloured precast concrete.

Key words:

precast concrete; Portland slag cement; mineral additives
