Abstract
The unfavorable economic framework — in combination with high debt on private, company and state levels in several European countries — put pressure on the construction industry until the end of 2013. The recent EUROCONSTRUCT forecasts confirmed that 2014 was a turning point. At that time all construction sectors recorded on average growth rates throughout Europe. Further increase in construction output is expected throughout the forecasting period 2015 to 2017. Those countries and construction sectors which were hit most by the past two recessions show the best perspectives all above Spain, Poland and Ireland. From the sectoral perspective strongest growth can be expected in civil engineering throughout Europe since many countries already reached unsustainable levels because of previous significant budgetary cuts.
