Abstract
This paper describes the possibility of obtaining water resistant magnesia cement and its transfer from the air binder materials to the category of hydraulic binder materials. The increase of water resistance develops due to the use of fundamentally new grouting fluid, magnesium bicarbonate (MBC) water olution. When applied, it forms hydrophobic compounds, magnesium bicarbonates, so the binder will harden both in air and in water. The compressive strength of this composition on hardening in water is higher than after air hardening.
Key words:
magnesia binder; magnesium bicarbonate solution; magnesium hydrocarbonates; water resistance
