Abstract
In this study, polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCEs) were synthesized from isoprenyl oxy poly(ethylene glycol) ether (IPEG) and acrylic acid via aqueous free-radical copolymerization. The copolymer composition was calculated based on the residual amounts of IPEG macromonomer and acrylic acid as obtained from size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Subsequently, the relative monomer reactivity ratios r1 and r2 were determined by applying three different linearization methods, namely the Kelen–Tüdős, Inverted Kelen–Tüdős and the Yezrielev–Brokhina–Roskin method. The individual values derived from the three methods were quite consistent and found at r1(IPEG)=0.042 and r2(AA)=1.61.
