Abstract
The photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) can degrade a broad range of contaminants into innocuous products, with the only help of light (artificial or natural). As a consequence, photocatalytic materials, such as TiO2, became very attractive in the development of construction materials like ceramic tiles, paving blocks, glass, paints, etc. with self-cleaning, air or water purification and antibacterial functions. The photocatalysis is proved to be effective to waste waters treatments, and to degrade gaseous pollutants such as SOx, NOx and volatile organic compounds (VOC). These phenomena are briefly exposed in this review, followed by a presentation of some examples of real applications.
