Abstract

Over the period of many years, issues of production and supply of building materials, products and constructions were considered as compiling the united complex with issues of capital construction and design, which had been under co-ordination of the USSR Gosstroy, and then Gosstroy of Russia (the Russian Federation State Committee for Construction, Architectural and Housing Policy). Such a situation enabled to solve problems of capital construction by the united federal executive body, even during the tough period of economic reforms in early 1990s.

Despite a sharp decrease in production of building materials, products and constructions, the building materials industry managed, in general, to keep its productive potential by the year 1998, although based on aged and obsolete technologies and energy consuming processes. After the minimal level in 1998, volume of production in the industry was growing till the year 2009.

Rallying on the market of capital construction enabled not only to start gradual restoration of traditional building materials, products and constructions, but also to create a range of new directions that won popularity among builders, such as gypsum-board and gypsum-fiber liners, dry building mixtures, etc. Serious qualitative and quantitative changes took place in production of ceramic tiles of all types, sanitary stonewares, floor’s coverings. Production volumes of heat insulation materials, both on basis of mineral and glass fiber, and on basis of polymer foam, increased. New capacities for production of thermally polished glass were created.
