Abstract
The sustainability of structures in civil engineering is becoming a more and more important issue. This is related to problems of assessing the structural condition, measuring the performance, and determining the residual lifetime of structures or structural components. Techniques for non-destructive testing and structural health monitoring can be valuable for supporting the engineer during the construction of new buildings or maintenance of existing infrastructure and for helping make them more sustainable. This requires a comprehensive concept in order to implement these techniques in existing construction and maintenance plans.
Key words:
non-destructive testing; structural health monitoring; ultrasound method; wireless technique
