Abstract
Design and detailing of a parabolic trough structure made of high-strength concrete are presented. Its main advantage is to merge two pivotal tasks, namely to support and to serve as a precise substrate carrier of mirror elements simultaneously. Both demands are united in one slender shell structure, whereof a first prototype needs sparse thickness only. Based on numerical analyses in compliance to manufacturing and concrete technology demands, great potential for future serial production of large-scale modules is derived.
Key words:
high-strength concrete; shell structure; parabolic trough collector; prototype manufacturing
