Abstract

Useful utilization of by-products (waste) of various plants in industry is correctly connected with the problem of natural resources’ rational utilization and environment protection being one of the most important issues of modern life. For the Russian Federation possessing with its huge territory this problem nowadays is probably not that critical as for other countries. Nonetheless the solution for these tasks is needed. Their urgency is also emphasized with many special events which are held worldwide, particularly by the UN.

It is quite naturally that the most reasonable and economic technical solution lies in development and introduction of technological industrial closed-loop cycle processes which do not yield any non-utilized products and wastes (so called «non-waste technologies») [1-3]. For example, V. V. Kafarov, academician [2], defines non-waste technology as such a management of production process at which waste products are minimized or completely processed into useful products and materials. When non-waste technologies are applied, the technical and economic level of any complex production process is highly increasing, as well as the optimal level of ecological interaction between industry and environment is maintained.

Below, as an example, the results of large-scale research and experimental-industrial works are presented, which have been carried out in the USSR with purpose of effective non-waste solid fuel utilization for simultaneous manufacture of electric power and fused clinker. It should be emphasized that cement clinkers’ manufacture by the fusion method (and not by usual method of clinkering) allows, as it is well known, to sharply intensify the processes of clinker production from raw material mixture of Portland cement composition.
