Abstract
The current study was carried out by Siberian State Industrial University, a State Educational Body of Higher Professional Training (GOU VPO SibGIU), within a framework of a three-year program (2010–2012) of fundamental studies organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (Minobrnauki) under the project called “A study of theoretic foundations of nano-dispersed silicate binders obtained from the waste of thermal power stations (TPS)”. In 2010, the first stage of the study was completed: they studied the structure and reactivity of high-calcium and low-calcium fly ash. The main objective of the conducted studies was to develop the fundamentals of TPS fly ash reactivity.
The study is included in the List of Critical Technologies of the Russian Federation, including “Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials” and “Recycling and utilization technologies for technogenic wastes and formations”, as well as in Rational Management of Natural Resources, a priority in the field of research, technology and engineering development in the Russian Federation.
Development of a new composite cement-free binder obtained solely from industrial waste is of current interest both in and outside of Russia.
Key words:
high-calcium ash; mechanochemical treatment; nanodispersed silicate binding agent
