Abstract

People have been using gypsum for a long time. Fi­nishing plasters and alabaster columns were used to decorate buildings thousands of years ago. It is rather odd to talk today about how to grow the gypsum industry when gypsum has been used for so many years. On the other hand, the fact that the use of gypsum is still growing today is testament to the value that it continues to offer. The next few years actually offer the chance for gypsum use to grow even faster than it has in the past. The purpose of this paper is to describe why I think that we are entering a period of rapid growth in gypsum products around the world.
