Abstract

The prototype of PC TCZ is low water requirement binders (LWB) or cement of low water requirement cement, (LWC) developed and tested in the 1980s, and which underwent industrial tests at five cement factories in 1990–1992. A report on this was first published in the works of the 10th international congress on cement chemistry in Goteborg (Sweden) [1]. The editorial council of the congress asked the authors before the publication of the report (1997) to rename LWB LWC. The authors of the report followed this advice in their publications in future. Just as LWC is a new generation of Portland cement, PC TCZ is the next generation of LWC, developed by the authors of the present article. The differences and advantages are described below.

The term «contact zone» of cement particles in concrete, with the surrounding structure of hydrated new formations arising with the interaction of cement with water, the relics of other particles of cement, particles of mineral additives and fillers — fine (sand) and coarse (break stone or gravel), and also the liquid phase in pores and hydrates, was introduced in our country by academic P. A. Rebinder and Professor Ye.Ye. Segalova in 1960 [2]. Abroad, academic R. Perren and staff by the French Academy of Sciences in Reports in 1972 [3] called this interphase surface and its surroundings the «interfacial zone». H. Taylor, in the book «Cement chemistry» [4] used the latter term. Since then, both terms can be seen as equivalents in Russian and foreign terminology respectively.
