ANALYSIS OF THE RUSSIAN CEMENT MARKET IN JUNE 2021

Abstract

In June 2021, cement production in the Russian Federation increased by 8.0 % by June 2020 and amounted to 6.4 million tons. Increase in production in January–June 2021 compared to January–June 2020 was 3.8 % to 26.0 million tons.
In June 2021, shipments of cement to Russia increased by 12.8 % by June 2020 and amounted to 6.6 million tons. Increase in January–June 2021 to January–June 2020 was 4.8 % to 26.1 million tons.
Railway transport of cement in the Russian Federation in June 2021 increased by 11.3 % compared to the corresponding month last year to 2.8 million tons. Rail transport of cement in the Russian Federation in January–June 2021 increased by 8.3 % compared to the corresponding period last year to 12.1 million tons, while in the total volume of deliveries the share of transportation of cement by rail transport increased from 44.6 % to 45.9 %.
Imports of cement in the Russian Federation in June 2021 increased by 65.4 % compared to the corresponding month of the previous year to 186 thousand tons. The volume of import of cement in the Russian Federation in January–June 2021 increased by 18.8 % compared to January–June last year and amounted to 754 thousand tons.
Exports of cement from the Russian Federation in June 2021 by June 2020 increased by 29.4 % to 166 thousand tons. The volume of export of cement from the Russian Federation for the period January–June 2021 by January–June 2020 hasn’t changed and reached 548 thousand tons.
Cement consumption increase in June 2021 by June 2020 is 13.4 % to 6.6 million tons. Increased consumption in January–June 2021 by January–June 2020 –5.3 % to 26.3 million tons.
Producer prices (excluding VAT and delivery) in June 2021 compared to May 2021 increased by 1.3 % and amounted to 3,967 rubles/ton. Purchase prices
(including VAT and delivery) decreased by 1.5 % and amounted to 5,163 rubles/ton.
The volume of the Russian cement market in value terms in June 2021 increased by 17.6 % compared to the corresponding month last year to 34.2 billion rubles. In January–June 2021, this figure increased by 10.9 % to the level of the corresponding period last year and amounted to 134.8 billion rubles.
